1/2 - German violin, Mollenhauer & Söhne
This attractive 1/2 violin was built in the 1920s for the Fulda music store Mollenhauer & Söhne, following an elegant Stradivari model with delicately cut sound holes and a small scroll on a long pegbox. The light brown varnish and the carefully selected tonewoods are of good quality: The top was made by very regularly grained spruce, the back of mildly flamed maple. The body of the old German violin is crack-free and undamaged; a minor repair at the pegbox and some varnish defects correspond to the instrument´s age and its antique character, without having any impact on the good sound, which is clear and bright, with a soft undertone. This half-sized violin of quality has been completely and carefully restored by our luthier and is in immediate playing condition.
