Late 19th century French viola

This French viola is a top-sounding instrument from the late 19th century with a truly beautiful appearance. Its style indicates a higher quality work from the Mirecourt ateliers not only because of its overall design, but especially because of the high standard of craftsmanship and musical quality it reflects. The golden-brown varnish is very transparent, allowing the beautiful grain of the premium tone woods to shine through: spruce with a medium grain that becomes more widely spread towards the edges, and flamed maple for the back and ribs. After having been carefully worked over by our luthiers, this undamaged French viola is being offered in very good condition and ready to play. Its sophisticated, bright, beautiful sound is warm, resonant and well rounded but also features great precision.
