7/8 - antique violin by Edmund Paulus

A rare 19th centurry 7/8 violin by the renowned house of Edmund Paulus. The violin was made in 1886 in Markneukirchen. The instrument has a bodylength of 35,0 cm and is perfectly suitable for small handed advanced players. The violin bears the original label. The top is made of medium grained spruce, the two piece back of narrow flamed maple. The ribs are similar flamed. The color of the beautifully shining varnish is an intense dark red-brown over a yellow ground. There are two uncritical repairs at the lower eyes of each soundhole. The violin is set up with a new bridge, soundpost and new Pirastro strings and is in full playing condition. The strong well-balanced sound is medium dark, clear, full-bodied and a bit mellow. The violin projects very nicely.
