Fine historic Markneukirchen viola. 18th century

Professional violists will especially enjoy this historic Markneukirchen viola of the 18th centurywhich has an enigmatically warm and joyful sound with beautiful brightness and colors which facilitates musical interpretations in a fashion that is rarely encountered. The instrument was created in the 18th century, in the pre-industrial era of Saxonian violin making by a master whose name remains unknown to us. In his fne viola, the purfling positioned very close to the margin and the large and outstandingly carved scroll demonstrate the skillfulness of a excellently trained and experienced hand. Graceful sound holes and the well-defined arch of the table give the violin its aesthetic. Its top is made of finely grained spruce and its one-piece back of maple with delicate flames – both premium tone woods whose magnificent tonal properties have developed their full character over the course of generations. This viola is preserved in remarkable, undamaged condition. We have set it up and made it ready to play and present this rare piece in top condition.

The "Violas" section features our attractive selection of other violas with audio sound samples.
