This French master violin by Joseph Aubry is a magnificently crafted instrument for professionals, an impressive modern interpretation which has captured the full potential of this classic model. With its powerful voice full of timbre, the clear and exceptionally resonant voice of this fine violin satisfies demanding soloist standards. This professional violin by Joseph Aubry, numbered 14, is one of the last violins Joseph built around 1930 and it reflects the talent of a master whose opportunity to bring his gifts to full fruition was interrupted by WWII. From December 1937 onward, Joseph Aubry's son Victor worked alone at the workshop in Le Havre, Northern France, which was founded by his father Joseph Aubry in Mirecourt in 1922, and in the challenging few years between that time and Victors early death in September 1944, Victor Aubry was not able to create a very extensive oeuvre. The full table of the broadly designed body shows the steady hand of Joseph Aubry as a mature luthier whose excellent training is evident in the perfect proportions of the the deeply carved scroll and finely crafted peg box. The deep flames of the meticulously selected top-quality maple are accentuated by his decision to fashion the back as two piece. And the aesthetic of the instrument is further complemented by a rich coat of fine oil varnish of a luminous dark orange colour which confidently calls attention to the instrument's provenance from northern France. A beautiful patina and some traces of playing shape the superior character of this rare violin. Its fine features have been preserved in outstanding and undamaged condition. Joseph Aubry's handwritten signature on the inside of the violin confirm the authenticity of this rare instrument, a piece of European history which we now offer after having carefully set it up at our workshop and made it ready to play.
