The top is made of very beautiful regular grained spruce, the two piece back of flamed maple. The intensely colored varnish is a rich oil varnish of an orange brown color over a yellow ground. There is some craquelle to top and back and some wear to the varnish. The huge scroll is typically made in the italian tradition. The violin is undamaged and perfectly preserved. The pleasing sound is warm and mellow. This modern Turin violin has been played professionally and is offered ready to play.
