Handsome southern German violin by Carl Ruckmich

This good Southern German violin by Carl Ruckmich (Grossherzoglich Badischer Hoflieferant) was made around 1930 in Freiburg, it bears the original label. It is a very good quality handmade piece made on the model of Stradivarius: the top is made of regular medium grained spruce, the two piece back of handsome flamed maple. The varnish is a spirit-oil varnish of an intense red-brown color applied on a golden ground, the varnish shows some slight craquellation and minor signs from playing. The instrument is perfectly preserved, crackfree, undamaged and in full playing condition. The luthiers in our workshop have meticulously worked over the instrument which is, like all Corilon instruments, offerd in playing condition. The large, warm sound is resonant and clear with a slight "Italian" mellow note.
