English violin of the early 19th Century

This unique instrument was handmade in the 19th Century in England. The workmanship and the materials of this highly interesting, individual violin are of high quality. The top is made of fine-grained spruce, the back of tightly flamed sycamore maple. With tender edges, narrow soundholes and protrudingly wide bouts the violins body has a highly individual shape. Especially noteworthy is the brilliance and beauty of the thinly applied varnish with regard to its high transparency and its marvelous patina. In spite of its age the instrument remains perfectly preserved. Its sound is of outstanding quality and character: Dark, a little bit mean and of delightful noblesse. This violin has a character sound of colors and good strength, yet not too loud. Therefore perfectly suitable for chamber music. It was worked over by our luthier and is ready to play.
