Fine cello bow with valuable engraved gold fittings and tortoiseshell frog, from the collection of a professional cellist. An elaborately decorated cello bow for the highest musical standards – collector's item and solid investment.
German cello bow with original stamp *ALBERT NÜRNBERGER* – Markneukirchen, circa 1920: high-quality cello bow from the golden age of the famous bow-making dynasty.
With Franz Albert Nürnberger (1854–1931), the bow-making workshop of the Nürnberger family in Markneukirchen became an institution that put the construction of bows for fine stringed instruments in Germany to rival the best workshops in England and France. It was here, in this place of supreme craftsmanship, that this first-class cello bow was made around 1920. Thanks to its exceptionally good playing and sound qualities, as well as its rare, high-quality features, it is a true collector's item and a stable investment. It is a collaborative work by Carl Albert Nürnberger (1885–1971) and Philipp Paul Nürnberger (1882–1946) – the two sons and successors of Franz Albert Nürnberger – and combines their best talents with the artistic heritage of a great family tradition. The octagonal stick is perfectly crafted and, thanks to its center of gravity, which is slightly toward the upper half, can be controlled with complete precision, allowing the powerful and full sound of this 82.8 g cello bow to deliver differentiated interpretations at the highest musical level. In keeping with this rare quality, the Nurnberger brothers gave it a high-class, elegant finish, with a dark tortoiseshell frog and gold fittings with rich engravings on the frog ring and the three-piece foot. We have acquired this cello bow from the collection of a professional musician in perfect, completely undamaged condition, with no significant signs of use, and offer it with a certificate from Albert Nürnberger – the grandson of Carl Albert Nürnberger – in a condition ready to play.
