With this contemporary master cello bow, Markneukirchen bow maker Michael Mönnig provides a current example of the undiminished vitality of his craft’s traditions, an art that has been practiced at his workshop for generations. A bow full of personality with a dynamic sound and perfect balance.

The Mönnig family of bow makers has been part of the musical cosmos of the Vogtland region of Saxony since 1755, and in the course of its long history, the family not only shaped developments in the rich traditions of this violin-making region: it also created several milestones in German bow making. Today Michael Mönnig runs the workshop together with his son Thomas, and there he blends the influences both of his teacher Günter Paulus and of his grandfather Paul Herrmann to create a personal style that is beautifully articulated in the delicate craftsmanship of this cello bow’s head and frog. The comfortable total weight of 79.0 g and outstanding balance of the octagonal stick of the finest pernambucco allow musicians to play with nuance and create a powerful clear sound. Mönnig‘s original brandmark and the top-quality silver-mounted fittings, three-piece button and Parisian eye all reflect at a glance the high standards with which this bow was crafted, and we warmly recommend it to professional musicians and advanced amateurs. It will serve as a solid and multifaceted partner; we have made it ready to play, carefully reviewed it by the experts in our restoration workshop, and offer it with a trade-in guarantee.
