This excellent 3/4-sized violin is an unmistakable masterpiece, that was crafted 1966 in the violin making town Markneukirchen in Saxony. The dated, original label indicates that this is a premium quality instrument from the MUSIMA workshop of Eberhard Meinel. It is one of the last pieces that were built according to the Markneukirchen violin making traditions, before the nationally-owned enterprise "Musikinstrumentenbau Markneukirchen MUSIMA" started large series production in 1967. Presumably it was built under the guidance of E. Meinel by an unknown master, who processed premium tonewoods with flawless craftsmanship, as it can be seen for example at the accurately executed purfling. Beautiful shining orange-colored oil varnish covers the regular, medium grained spruce of the top and the two-piece back of flamed maple - the typical refinement of first class instruments from Markneukirchen. This remarkable violin is preserved undamaged and in perfect condition, ready to play after a complete work-over by our luthier. We highly recommend its strong and bright sound, that is clear, rich in overtones and with great brilliance.
