The color of the beautifully shining varnish is an intense dark red-brown over a yellow ground. There are two uncritical repairs at the lower eyes of each soundhole. The violin is set up with a new bridge, soundpost and new Pirastro strings and is in full playing condition. The strong well-balanced sound is medium dark, clear, full-bodied and a bit mellow. The violin projects very nicely.
