With its pleasant, not too loud sound this antique 1/2 violin is a suitable learner´s instrument, warm, bright and open, a little mellow in the lower ranges. It was manufactured around 1910 in Mirecourt and is a rare expample of small-size violins that bear the renowned brandmark "Mansuy". The typical French design of the corpus and the sunny, golden orange colored varnish give charming elegance to this violin, emphasized by the fine purfling. The top of medium grained spruce and the two piece back of mild flamed maple from the Vosges Mountains have traces of use that are typical for an instrument of this age. Checked and set up by our luthier this violin is in immediate playable, very good condition.
