This rare petite 1/2 sized violin from the 19th century was made in Mirecourt, France around 1870. It is a quality piece of an extraordinary high quality and beauty, rare to find in this small size. The beautiful woods are well selected: medium grained spruce for the table, mildly flamed maple for the one piece back. The varnish is of an intense and luminous orange-brown color over a yellow ground. The 1/2 sized violin is preserved in good condition and with minor repairs only it has been completely worked over by our luthiers, it is now in perfect and immediate playing condition. The 1/2 violin is a petite intermediate size (between 1/4 and 1/2 size) and equipped with a german Wittner tailpiece with four integrated fine tuners, new boxwood pegs and chinrest and a complete workover by our workshop. The sound is warm, mature, somewhat mellow and unique - with noblesse, perfectly balanced. A rare antique piece for the talented child.
