Antique children's violins like this rare antique 1/2 violin are true rarities that often feature an especially good and mature sound - just like this instrument, that was built approx. 1880 in England. The 1/2 violin is a successfully crafted instrument that was built after a model with flat arching and extended corners; the small, delicate scroll determines its unmistakably individual English character. The brown varnish is typical for the provenance of the violin. Undamaged and completely worked-over by our luthier, this antique 1/2 violin is in very good condition, with several traces of use and patina on the varnish, as they are common for instruments of that age. We applied new pegs and a chinrest made of rosewood and offer the violin worked over and ready to play. Its dark sound is mature and warm with good volume in the lower ranges and a fine and precise character in the upper ranges - excellent musical features, that are rarely found at 1/2 violins and therefore very recommendable.
