The Jerôme Thibouville-Lamy J.T.L. workshops in Mirecourt have been famous for the high quality and the exceptionally good sound of their instruments, especially in the 19th century. Also smaller sizes like this 1/2 violin "Médio Fino" model, which was manufactured around 1900, have a very good reputation. This violin is preserved in good undamaged condition. The length of back measures 30.0 cm, the archings are of the flat type. The top is made of wide-grained spruce and the two-piece back is made of maple. The scratched purfling is typical for the Medio-Fino series of J.T.L. The shiny drk red varnish shows slight signs from playing, unique features that add character to this antique instrument.
