This young Italian violin has an elegant beauty and radiant large sound full of brightness and power, properties which reflect the excellent standards that contemporary violin makering in Cremona has re-attained since the 1950's. The outstanding masters who emerged from the international violin making school there also include the artisan who produced this instrument: Daniele Scolari, who was born in Cremona in 1961. In 1979 he completed his training at the Scuola die Liuteria under Gio Batta Morassi; in his capacity as the maestro liutai, Morassi made major contributions to reviving Cremona’s standing. Daniele Scolari began refining his own personal style from 1980 onward in the atelier of his older brother Giorgio, and both brothers have managed the workshop since then. Gold, silver and bronze medals received for his fine violins at competitions in Bagnacavallo in 1984, 1986 and 1988 brought Daniele Scolari high acclaim. In 1996 he began teaching at his alma mater, where they today uphold the rich experience of modern Italian violin making traditions through masters such as Sgarabotto and Morassi without ever having failed to pay due tribute to the Cremonese classics. With this violin, Daniele Scolari drew inspiration from a Guarneri model and created his own highly compelling interpretation. The violin features a rich coat of orange oil varnish which also lends it a strikingly modern aesthetic. He selected wood from a slab of maple for the one-piece back, thus giving the instrument magnificent acoustic properties. The exquisite beauty of the grain can be seen from the ribs all the way to the expressively large scroll. This confidence of this aesthetic accent is well matched by the narrow silhouette of the somewhat smaller body and the light and finely detailed execution of the sound holes. After having been carefully set up by the specialists at our atelier, the violin is now in outstanding condition and ready to play, and we recommend this violin as the top-tier work of a master. Included in the price is a certificate issued by Daniele Scolari.
