This antique master violin probably comes from the Bohemian-Saxon violin-making region and was made around 1800. It represents the traditional local art of violin making with its high standards of flawless craftsmanship and good musical properties. Its bright, resonant sound is lucid, bright and radiantly clear in character, rich in overtones, with a pleasantly sweet note in the upper registers.
Its origin can be attributed to a master violin maker in the Bohemian-Saxon Musikwinkel region around 1800. The top, made of medium- to long-growth spruce, and the one-piece back, made of mildly flamed maple, reveal the work of a skilled, experienced hand, who finished the instrument with a light brown varnish—typical of the region—over a golden-yellow base. Signs of use, befitting a two-hundred-year-old instrument that was clearly played with great pleasure, complete the antique character of this tasteful finish. The experts at the Corilon Violins workshop have restored this antique master violin, which has been preserved in virtually undamaged condition, to playing condition and, after a thorough inspection, have confirmed that it is in prime condition with no damage or repairs.
