This excellent German violawas made by luthier Heinrich Schnier (1906-1994) in 1951 in the town of Stadthagen. It is a top-quality instrument with a beautiful aesthetic, and it stands out thanks to its marvellous sound. Schnier learned his trade at the hands of the talented and very productive Carl Bernhard (1857-1934), whose employee and successor he became. The atelier they operated together is now part of the Amtspforte Museum in Stadthagen, a rare and distinctive honour. Heinrich Schnier chose very good tone woods, especially the closely and finely flamed maple of the back, which is an unusual beauty. The scroll is eye-catchingly large and yet elegant and finely detailed. The warmth with which the orange-brown oil varnish plays against the light background is a wonderful match for the round, large sound of this instrument. Its voice is precise, bright and balanced with excellent resonance. It is a highly recommended piece that our luthier has carefully worked over and made ready to play.
