This recommendable German viola was made in the workshop of Wolff brothers, Kreuznach, it is an instrument from around 1920. The length of back is 39.0 cm, a convenient size that is easy to play yet offers a well balanced, strong tone. The woods are selected for tonal quality: the top is made of wide to medium grained spruce, the back of mildly flamed maple. The varnish is anm oil varnish of a golden-brown color, the varnish is in good condition showing the typical wear from playing at the common places. This undamaged Wolff brothers viola is well preserved and, after having been worked over in our atelier, offered in perfect condition. Her sound is warm, bright and open, clear, of good strength and well balanced.
