This antique lightweight violin bow was handmade in Saxony in the late 19th century. The violin bow hails from the environment of the Knopf workshop, an old and traditional Markneukirchen bow makers family, whose bows are well known for their playing qualities. This antique lightweight violin bow was handmade in Saxony in the late 19th century. The violin bow hails from the environment of the Knopf workshop, an old and traditional Markneukirchen bow makers family, whose bows are well known for their playing qualities. This antique violin bow features very good playing characteristics due to its handy round stick, the convenient weight of 54,3 g and the balance-point being located in the lower part of the stick, shifted towards the frog. The bow is made of perhambuco wood, the distinctive frog is nickel mounted with Pearl eye and framed nacre slide. The bow produces a bright, warm and slightly mellow sound.
