This fine old Markneukirchen violin bow is a fine quality piece that was traditionally master-made by a Markneukirchen bow maker in the 1920ies. It features a powerful stick and high bounce activity - a combination which is actually not easy to find - and measures 74.2 cm from head to frog end. The octagonal stick is made of fine light-brown pernambuco wood. The stick combines high tension and activity and works actively yet handy and active and plays fluidly. The head is neatly worked out in a typically Markneukirchen style. The delicate ebony frog is nickel silver mounted and adorned with a Pearl eye and a pearly slide. This very active Markneukirchen violin bow is accurately, if not perfectly balanced, the felt balance-point is centered with a tendency towards the lower half of the stick. The measured balance-point is at 25.5 cm from the frog end including the length of the adjuster. The bow, offered in excellent flawless condition, produces a warm, large, sweet, radiant and voluminous sound works perfectly with most violins.
