This exceptionally beautiful Markneukirchen violin bow was crafted in the workshop of Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf, and exemplifies the excellent quality of the second generation of Knopf makers. With a total weight of 56.4 g, good resilience and responsiveness, this is the perfect choice for collectors and musicians who are interested in historical instruments and are looking for a reliable, lightweight violin bow for frequent practice and ensemble playing.
Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf – a younger son of Christian Wilhelm Knopf, who is considered the founding father of the famous family of Saxonian bow makers – made a name for himself as an excellent teacher, thereby helping to spread the family's artisanal tradition beyond Markneukirchen. This authentic bow from his workshop bears a hexagram as a brand at the end of the round stick made of yellow-brown pernambuco, which is tastefully decorated in a classically simple style, with a nickel-mounted ebony frog adorned with mother-of-pearl eyes, a three-part button with eye and a winding made of real silver wire. We deliver this Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf violin bow in full, set up and ready to play, having been checked over in our workshop, with a certificate from the Dresden expert Christian Hans-Karl Schmidt.
