Pernambuco for 380 years of bow making: Marco Raposo emphasizes sustainability and grows the material for his excellent string bows through a reforestation project in Brazil’s Mata Atlântica rainforest. The results are compelling – not only from an ecological perspective, but because they have exceptionally good playing and acoustic properties.

This contemporary violin bow from the Brazilian workshop of Marco Raposo is a remarkable piece which combines excellent playing properties with a top-tier powerful sound and environmental sustainability – thus proving itself to be the modern-day interpretation of classic bow-making traditions. In the Mata Atlântica region where Brazil’s rain forest is located, Marco Raposo manages a reforestation project for pernambuco trees, and in the meantime there is enough material for 380 years‘ worth of bow making. An excellent example of the unusually high quality of these woods can be seen in the octagonal stick of this violin bow; its great elasticity, well-balanced and centrally positioned balance point that tends slightly towards the tip give players consistently perfect control. Its clear, radiantly bright and well-supported sound also features a pleasant warmth, and the multi-facetted nature of this violin bow’s assets make it universally ideal for a wide variety of genres. Aesthetically pleasing silver fittings on the three-piece button, the Parisian eye and Marco Raposo‘s original brand mark give all this bow an attractive appearance that is worthy of its musical merits. We have made it ready to play and recommend it.
