Violin bow - 1940's, silver mounted, Markneukirchen

This lightweight violin bow is a fluid, softish player. The bow was made in the 1940's in Germany, presumably Markneukirchen. Its round stick is made of light-brown pernambuco wood and is of medium strength and forgiving at play. The neatly finished ebony frog is sterling silver mounted with a white-green-rose shimmering pearl slide. This lightweight silver violin bow has a length of 74.8 cm, it is well balanced and has its perceived balance point well centered, slightly inclined towards the upper half of the stick and measured at 25.8 cm. This good silver violin bow is very convenient to play and produces a bright, clear, ringing tone.
