The J.T.L. ateliers in Mirecourt offered with the highly sought-after “Médio Fino” line solid-quality, simple instruments with very good musical properties. Correspondingly, many of the “Médio Finos” available today have intense traces of use, and examples such as this identically constructed violin which has some flaws but a great sound at the price are quite rare. This typical violin was made arond 1900 and is preserved in very good condition; it was made following a broad model with scracthed purfling. This French violin is very visually appealing with its gently flamed two-piece back, the antique orange-brown varnish. The sound of this truly antique violin is warm and sweet in the upper ranges.
