Well-kept antique German lion head violin with clear, powerful sound. This violin was made around 1880 or earlier in Saxony and is preserved in collector condition. Well-kept antique German lion head violin with clear, powerful sound. This violin was made around 1880 or earlier in Saxony and is preserved in collector condition. The top is made of medium grained spruce, the back is made of two pieces and flamed maple. The scroll is carved in the shape of a typical Saxon lion's head. The instrument is in very good condition. Like all our violins this lion head violin is set up ready to play. The powerful, clear sound is very strong, dark, bright in the upper ranges.
