The top is made of medium grained spruce, the back is made of two pieces and flamed maple. The scroll is carved in the shape of a typical Saxon lion's head. The instrument is in very good condition. Like all our violins this lion head violin is set up ready to play. The powerful, clear sound is very strong, dark, bright in the upper ranges.
