This highly interesting violin with Sebastien Vuillaume label is an accurately crafted instrument, built around 1860 in one of France's renowned master workshops. The nephew of J. B. Vuillaume is described in the literature as a "capable violin maker" - the pretty ornamental purfling, which was made exactly according to J.B. Vuillaume's model, the wonderful luminosity of the varnish, the pretty scroll and the gentle fluting of the top are good examples of the high standard by which this interesting master violin is distinguished. Thus possibly originating from the sebatsine factory, leuichtend orange-brown varnish with red tones, antique patina and interesting playing traces covers very high quality tonewoods, the flamed maple of the one-piece back and the regular spruce of the top. In our specialized restoration workshop, the fine antique French violin, which has been well preserved with an acceptable ancient sound post patch, has been extensively worked over so that after a thorough reconditioning it unfolds its powerful, matured and clear tone with immediate response.
