This antique French violin is was made in the late 19th century in Mirecourt. Dated "1er Janvier 1890 - 1st January 1890" this instrument is a premium instrument that was made in the workshops of Jerome Thibouville-Lamy J.T.L. in Mirecourt. The broad model is after Stradivarius, the archings are of flat to medium height featuring softly worked out flutings. The one piece top is made of medium to wide grained spruce, the two piece back is made of deeply flamed Vosges maple. The aged, honeybrown colored varnish is very beautiful indeed and shows minor signs from playing only. This recommendable "1st January 1890" French JTL violin is preserved crackfree in perfect condition. Like all old stringed instruments in the Corilon violins online catalogue, this good J.T.L violin has been meticulously worked over by the luthiers in our atelier and is offered ready to play. The recommended sound is clear, dark and balanced - and very projective.
