Beautiful old French Mirecourt violin, circa 1920

This good antique French violin is an attractive and epecially good sounding piece of work made around 1920 in Mirecourt, France - most likely in the Marc Laberte workshops. The woods of quality and well selected: the top is made of medium grained spruce, the two piece back of deepyl flamed maple. The transparent yet luminous varnish is of a warm orange-brown color, very tpical for Mirecourt instruments of this type and showing wonderful signs of age and patination. This attractive antique violin is in excellent undamaged condition and has been luthier-checked and set up with a new bridge and soundpost and new Pirastro strings. The extraordinary strong sound is clear and bright and nicely resonant.
