Antique French violin by Nicolas Claudot, skillfully handcrafted in Mirecourt around 1820/1830 in the typical style of the period. This violin from the first half of the 19th century is a model with a very fine tone, featuring a well-defined arch and attractive purfling. The f-holes and the inlay work are particularly fine examples of craftsmanship and have been executed to a high standard. The two-piece top is made of straight-grained, medium-aged spruce, whilst the one-piece back is made of mildly flamed maple. The transparent, orange-brown varnish is beautifully preserved, bearing distinctive signs of use, and has developed a wonderful patina. This attractive French violin by Nicolas Claudot is sold with a certificate from J.-J. Rampal and is in very good condition, with no significant cracks or repairs (two minor repairs to the outer F-holes). Its tone is warm, full-bodied and powerful, with brilliant trebles that underline the violin’s character. Like all of our violins and violin bows for sale, this well-preserved antique string instrument is offered in the Corilon violins online shop with a 30-day right of return and Corilon's trade-in guarantee.
