A very pretty old Schönbach violin by Jan Basta with excellent tonal qualities. The violin carries its original label under the treble soundhole. The scroll is thoroughly cut and made after the italian style. The top is made of regular fine grained spruce, the two piece back of deeply flamed maple. The ribs are similar, deeply flamed. The varnish is of a golden-brown color and nicely patinated. The condition is excellent with one minor repair on top at the bass soundhole, the instrument is otherwise undamaged. The sound is huge and voluminous with a warm and smooth character. The violin is equipped with a boxwood setup. Special recommendation.
