Crafted in approximately 1790 in Mittenwald, this fine 18th century violin embodies the defining elements of the Klotz family's model that dominated violin making in Mittenwald at the time. This fine master violin, which can be attributed to the Klotz family's closer circle, is indeed a fine and accurate representation of its role model. The rather broad violin has a medium arch of the Klotz type, and its outstanding quality is clearly evident in the way the purfling was executed with extreme precision as well as in the deep carving of the graceful scroll. The tone woods selected are of the finest quality: moderately-grained spruce for the top and gently flamed maple for the two-piece back. Our luthiers painstakingly set up this fine 18th century violin, which is preserved with some restoration to body and scroll that allow us to offer this fine instrument at a highly attractive price in good condition, and it is now ready to play unfolding a warm and delicate, sweet sound full of character. This violin's expressive sound which gives demanding players a broad palette of multi-facetted interpretations.
