There can be no doubt about the high quality of this French violin by Charles Bailly, given its elegant aesthetic and its dominant sound which is recommended for solo performance. The instrument was crafted in 1933 at the Mirecourt atelier of Charles Bailly. Founded in 1909, his studio focused on building sophisticated violins, and by the time this violin was created, during the third decade of its history, the Bailly atelier had long since made a good name for itself. Bailly paid careful attention to flawless craftsmanship and a stylish appearance, and this violin meets these standards perfectly. Its luminous orange-brown and richly lustrous varnish accentuates the premium and well-chosen tone woods. The striking flames of the two-piece maple back are set in a particularly lovely light. The expressive carving of the scroll shapes the character of this model with its moderately high table, and the violin's musical properties are compelling. With its well-developed strength and size, the mature voice of this Charles Bailly violin easily stands out. It has been maintained in excellent condition, free of cracks and with acceptable traces of use, and we offer this remarkable Mirecourt instrument ready to play after having been carefully set up by the expert luthiers at our atelier. With Corilon's trade-in option and an optional certificate of appraisal.
