This fine Markneukirchen violin is an indeed masterly crafted copy of the delicate and distinctive instruments by Santo Serafino (Sanctus Seraphin) of Venice. It was made in the 1920s in Markneukirchen, the renowned violin making town in Saxony. This piece is introduced as an elegant, first-choice instrument by selected tonewoods, flawless craftsmanship and much attention to the detail: The purfling was inlaid very close to the edges; the richly applied oil varnish was decorated with excellently crafted antique touches. Very fine quality regular grained spruce was used for the top and maple with fascinating strong flames for the two-piece back. Our violin makers spent time and effort to work over and tonally optimize this perfectly preserved violin and make it ready to unfold its bright, warm and dominant sound, that is resonant, rich in overtones and of mature character.
