This old master violin was made by Walter Blumer in 1979 and features the original label and maker's certificate. Valued at 6,000 Swiss Franks (around 5,000 EUR), a uniquely personal style pervades its design although the name of its maker is less known in Swiss violin making. The purfling and arching show however the work of an experienced craftsman of great sensibility and indicate influences from the Italian style, the expressive scroll is large and was delicately carved. A flat and powerful Stradivarius model determines the shape of the body; the golden-brown oil varnish with its attractive appearance is of excellent quality and was applied with the greatest care. The sound of this old master violin demonstrate the makers experience, the beauty his and aesthetic sense. This good instrument has been thoroughly gone over and set up by our experienced luthier and is ready to play. The violin’s outstanding sound which has been recommended by our professional player makes it an ideal instrument for a demanding player. It is a very responsive instrument whose expressive, clear and warm, large voice sings and resonates in tribute to the skill of its maker.
