Around 1850, François Caussin (1794 - 1866) crafted this magnificent master violin from the finest woods. It is a splendid copy of Jean Baptiste Vuillaume, a remarkable master violin catching the eye, with a striking outline, distinctive fluting and an eye-catching antiqued varnish, all marked by the style of the most prominent figures in French violin making that was prevalent in the mid 19th century. Its superior character distinguishes this François Caussin master violin from many of its contemporaries which hail from his successful workshop. The musical appreciation this outstanding soloist instrument has received can be seen by some traces of intensive use, especially on the back, which is crafted of wonderfully even maple. This fine François Caussin violin was meticulously worked over by our luthier and is offered crackfree, ready to play. The aesthetic of this great violin is as fascinating and enigmatic as its sound, powerful, rich in volume, mature and radiant, suitable for professional soloist play. A certificate of authenticity by German Stuttgart expert Hieronymus Köstler is included in the price and does not have to be selected as an extra option in the shopping cart.
