French violin from Mirecourt. This beautiful old violin was made around 1910 by H. Blaise in the violin-making town of Mirecourt and bears his handwritten label. Blaise selected good tonewoods from the region, which are beautiful to look at under the intense burgundy-red varnish; the top was made with a gentle hollow groove from regular spruce, and the two-piece back is made from mildly flamed Vosges maple. The small, delicate scroll tastefully rounds off the character of this attractive violin. In excellent condition and ready to play after being refurbished by our violin maker, this pretty violin unfolds its dark yet bright, clear and resonant tone, which is mature and full-bodied, with clarity and resonance.
