This beautiful and finely crafted German master violin by master maker Herbert Schmidt was made in 1965 and reflects the finest Vogtland artisanry. It is a rare example of fine handcrafted master instruments from a period in which the former violin makers of Schönbach and the Vogtland region found new homes in Western Germany where they settled after the war. The masterfully applied thick coat of a transparent golden-brown oil varnish and the exceptionally good tone woods – a top of premium spruce and a deeply flamed maple back – which the craftsman chose are of unusually high quality. This is a very well-designed master instrument with a warm, mature and notably well balanced sound rich in overtones, with great clarity and strength. This modern German master violin has been worked over in our luthier's workshop, and we offer it to you undamaged, in perfect condition, ready to play.

The "Violins" section features our attractive selection of old and modern German violins with audio sound samples.
