This interesting historic master violin is a 1800 - 1800 work suitable for professional use that hails from the classic Mittenwald school and its perfect craftsmanship reflects the orientation towards the oeuvre of Hornsteiner Dax. At the time this instrument was made, Mittenwald masters were starting to take up the models of the Matthias Hornsteiner family and the warm, large, mature sound of this violin clearly illustrates this trend. Its visual aesthetic also confirms that it is a refined piece by an excellently trained and self-confident master who selected truly interesting tone woods. The magnificent spruce he chose for the top has an expressive interplay of moderate and fine grain – a striking sight made all the more lovely by the attractive contrast to the gentle but lively flames under the coat of transparent golden-brown varnish on the two-piece maple back. The rich details of the playfully executed beesting corners and expressive scroll give this instrument its unmistakable and distinctive appearance. Considering its advanced age, we offer this instrument in remarkable condition, with minor repairs only, all of which were carefully reviewed by the luthiers at our workshop as they set it up. The large scroll is a later addition. This interesting historic Mittenwald master violin, now ready to play, has a winning maturity to its sound, and it features the character of a historic personality.

Like all our instruments and bows, this includes our trade-in guarantee and an optional certificate of appraisal.
