This Italian violin by Raffaele Scalise is a contemporary masterpiece with an unmistakably Italian character. Scalise crafted this instrument in 1987 in the town of Mathi near Turin. He chose tone woods of the finest quality, as can clearly be seen in the extremely delicate flaming of the sycamore maple used to make the two-part back and ribs. Raffaele Scalise's perfect artisanry is visible in his work with this rare kind of wood. The delicate sound holes and the dark red oil varnish against a golden background complement the violin's elegant style. It was carefully set up in our atelier and is in perfect condition and ready to play. Its clear sound will win you over; it features the somewhat gentle, typically Italian resonance for which instruments from the cradle of violin making are renowned.
