Italian violin by Edo Sartori, Schio 2016: authentic work based on Guarneri with original label and brand mark; expression of the personal style of an interesting contemporary violin maker from northern Italy.

Edo Sartori (born 1961) is a contemporary violin maker from northern Italy, from the Vicenza region, who attracted international attention in 2008 and 2010 with second place in the cello category at the Pisogne violin making competition. In keeping with his commitment to traditional Italian violin making, he is dedicated to traditional craftsmanship, within which he knows how to add his own unique touches. In addition to carefully crafting the individual tonal profile of his instruments, he attaches particular importance to the varnish, for which he uses an oil varnish based on his own recipe. The Edo Sartori violin offered here is a tasteful example of the interplay between this delicately applied golden-orange-brown varnish and the grain of high-quality tonewoods: The spectacular grain of the hazel spruce top, which is rare in this form, and the mild, slightly sloping flame of the one-piece maple back unfold a particularly lasting aesthetic effect under this varnish. With its clear, bright sound and carrying brilliance, this violin, made after a Guarneri model, meets the high musical demands of advanced players and is suitable for both solo performances and sophisticated ensemble playing. Its authenticity is attested by the original handwritten note by Edo Sartori and his brand mark on the body.
