Within the limited oeuvre of Patrick Milne, this highly individual interpretation of the classic Stradivari model represents the mature late work of its creator, who shows himself to be an accomplished craftsman, working with great care and stylistic sensitivity down to the finest details: The delicately carved scroll, the carved edges, the cleanly cut sound holes and the overall edge work with well-extended corners and a perfectly successful edge inlay are an expression of outstanding craftsmanship, rounded off by a richly applied dark red oil varnish nish with a noble patina and delicate craquelle. With some traces of use, as befits a good instrument of this age, this completely crack-free English violin is in excellent condition – set up and made ready to play by the experts at our workshop. During the almost 100 years of its maturation, the strong, overtone-rich sound of this violin, full of character, has developed well and expanded its ringing substance into a richly colored sound that is rarely found.
