This Mittenwald violin with an outstanding sound was crafted in the mid 20th century in Mittenwald, most presumably in the workshop of Erich Sandner, the successor of the well-known master Johann Reiter that continued to use Johann Reiters label. This provenance is indicated by typical texture of the transparent, orange-brown colored varnish, that covers the Stradivari styled instrument. Both the finely crafted purfling and the premium quality of the selected tonewoods, that is demonstrated impressively by the flamed sycamore maple of the one-piece back, can be seen as characteristic attributes of Erich Sandner´s workshop. The Mittenwald violin is offered in excellently preserved condition and was carefully worked over by our experienced luthiers; ready to play it unfolds its strong and clear sound, that is rich in overtones and bright in character.
