This large and strikingly beautiful French violin was made in Mirecourt in the early 20th century around 1920 in the renowned Laberte-Magniéworkshops. With a bodylength of 36.8 cm this violin is especially suitable for tall, large-handed and male players. Well-executed work was patterned after a violin model by Didier Nicolas and is rich in attractive details: fine double purfling, the beautiful grain of the lovely tonewoods shimmers through the transparent red-brown varnish, which bears numerous meaningful traces from playing and particularly accentuates the one-piece maple back. The scroll is clearly a Mirecourt worker's hand. This good French Laberte violin is well preserved, undamaged and attractive instrument that produces a very large and voluminous, mature sound that is powerful and rich in overtones. According to the owner, a German "Jugend Musiziert" contest has been won with this violin.
