Antique French violin from Mirecourt, Breton, 1870's

This antique French Breton violin was crafted in the 1870's in an unknown workshop of the renowned center of violin-making Mirecourt. The violin was designed after patterns of Francois Breton and it is preserved crackfree in very good condition. The glossy varnish of intense golden-brown color with some traces from playing determines the attractive appearance of the instrument; the inlaid purfling and the beautiful pegbox and scroll are a good reference of quality craftsmanship. This antique French Breton violin was crafted in the 1870's in an unknown workshop of the renowned center of violin-making Mirecourt. The violin was designed after patterns of Francois Breton and it is preserved crackfree in very good condition. The glossy varnish of intense golden-brown color with some traces from playing determines the attractive appearance of the instrument; the inlaid purfling and the beautiful pegbox and scroll are a good reference of quality craftsmanship. This antique 19th century French violin has been - like all of Corilon's old stringed instruments - completely worked over by our luthiers, who made it ready to play. The mature, warm sound is large and mellow, it has aquite recommendable volume, unfolding with power tio the advanced player and beautiful singing resonance in the upper ranges.
