Old German Violin. Stradivarius model by Hermann Dölling jr., ca. 1910

This old German violin is a superior quality instrument from the ateliers of Hermann Dölling jr. in Markneukirchen, that was built approx. 1910 and bears the original label inside the body. This old German violin is a superior quality instrument from the ateliers of Hermann Dölling jr. in Markneukirchen, that was built approx. 1910 and bears the original label inside the body. The unmistakable, nonstandard character of the violin is determined by the broad model, the soft medium/flat arching of the top and back and the large, aesthetic scroll. The spruce of the top is very regular and well-chosen, as is the deeply flamed maple of the two piece back. The purfling was inlaid carefully and demonstrates the excellent skills of the violin makers at Hermann Dölling jr.´s workshops, that achieved good reputation among international experts and musicians. The attractive appearance of the violin is completed by a light-brown colored, glossy varnish that was richly applied. The violin is preserved in perfect condition and was - like all Corilon's instruments - thoroughly worked over by the luthiers in our workshop for violin making and restoration. Ready to play it unfolds its convincing sound that is warm, bright, clear, resonant and rich in overtones.
