A small and slim old Italian violin for petite players and wonderful chamber music - but with a 4/4 measure.
With its strikingly lovely sound full of deep resonance, this petite bodied 18th century Italian violin (with 4/4 measure) from central Italy shows that the classic violin-making regions of northern Italy were not the only source of exceptional instruments. A master whose name has been lost to history made this late 18th century Italian violin based upon a narrow, flat model for which he used rare tone woods of outstanding quality. Its thin coat of golden-brown varnish confidently accentuates the eye-catching grain of the spruce top, and it demonstrates a sense of style as it highlights the subtle close flaming of the two-part back of field maple. Time has left its own traces on the varnish, creating charming shifts in shading and a patina which contribute to the character of the instrument. This aesthetic is in perfect harmony with certain idiosyncrasies on the part of the luthier, especially in the expressive carving of the scroll – a successful understatement which has only a single winding. This petite Italian violin is conveniently small with its bodylength length, yet it has a 4/4 measure, which makes it well-suited for excellent musicians with shorter arms. They will find it particularly comfortable and pleasant to play, especially since the instrument also has a clear personality with a golden voice - the warm, sweet tone 18th century Italian violins are famous for. The price includes a certificate of authenticity by Stuttgart expert Hieronymus Köstler, on view by a click on the certificate button.
