With this highly refined Italian violin from the circles of Simone Fernando Sacconi, Pierluigi Galetti presents an excellent archetype of contemporary Italian violin making in Cremona

With this highly refined work, Pierluigi Galetti presented an excellent archetype of contemporary Italian violin making, merging the great traditions of Amati, Guarneri, Stradivari with the high craftsman standards and innovative strengths of the new Cremonese school of violin making. Piergiuseppe Galetti was inspired to take up his profession as a violin maker by no less a notable figure than Simone Fernando Sacconi, and he went on to become a highly interesting luthier with an inimitable individual style, thanks to his dynamic interactions with Francesco Bissolotti and other outstanding masters of his day and to his studies of Antonio Stradivari’s documents and tools. This full-blooded Italian violin was crafted in 1999 as the perfect expression of this full-blooded Cremona violin maker's own rather broad model; its self-confident radiance blends the command of his skills he showed in his later oeuvre. Pierluigi Galetti's steady hand and finely honed aesthetic sense shape the appearance of the delicate scroll, which features blackened edges and which he carved with a great love of detail. Like many Italian violin makers across the generations, Galetti chose wood with wormholes for the willow linings, which ultimately necessitated minor repairs at a total of three spots along the ribs (master violins by contemporary violin makers are usually offered at no less than € 15,000 - € 22,000). In top condition and ready to play, this Piergiuseppe Galetti violin from Cremona offers musicians the full spectrum of its bright, radiant and very contemporary voice which has convincingly translated the heritage of the historic Italian masters into our era with its carrying resonance and well-defined soloist qualities.
