This exceptionally beautiful and elegant old Viennes violin by Alois Leja from Vienna combines traditionally Czech and German stylistic features. The gentle arching of the body, the inlaid purfling and the precisely cut soundholes remind of German traditions while the neat scroll is designed in the Czech style. The premium tonewoods are covered with a rich golden orange oil varnish, especially emphasizing the magnificently flamed maple back. The state of preservation of the antique Viennese violin is astoundingly good. No cracks or damage, the surface bears only slight patination. The sound of this good Viennese Alois Leja violin is well-balanced over the strings, the upper registers sound bright and somewhat sweet, warm and deeper in the lower ranges. Like all instruments in our stock, this interesting violin has been worked over by the luthiers in our atelier and is offered in excellent condition, ready to play.
