This golden-brown violin from Markneukirchen is a very well-executed copy of a Gasparo Da Salo model, as is impressively evident by the typically elongated f-holes, the scroll and the double purfling. Luminous, golden-yellow varnish that has retained its gloss enhances the mild flaming of the two-piece maple back. Its unknown maker added many interesting details that lend the instrument a certain individuality, including the distinctively beautiful scroll. This old violin is in excellent, crack-free condition. It has been thoroughly worked over by our luthiers and is ready to play, very nicely playable, releasing a bright, precise sound that is pleasantly warm and well balanced.
