Luminous, golden-yellow varnish that has retained its gloss enhances the mild flaming of the two-piece maple back. Its unknown maker added many interesting details that lend the instrument a certain individuality, including the distinctively beautiful scroll. This old violin is in excellent, crack-free condition. It has been thoroughly worked over by our luthiers and is ready to play, very nicely playable, releasing a bright, precise sound that is pleasantly warm and well balanced.
